Firefox 2 released
Firefox 2 is out and so far, I'm in two minds about it.
I'm glad its progressed and is healthier than ever.
The first thing that annoys me though is the close tab icon. It used to be parked over on the farthest right of the 'tab stripe'. Now, each tab has its own close tab icon.
This is a pain in two ways. First, I am used to using the right hand icon to close tabs - no biggie, I can retrain myself. Second, is a UI problem. The icons only appear when you hover over the tab so I have been closing the tabs accidentally by clicking on the wrong area of the tab to select it.
The new UI way of doing this is to use the space that used to hold the close tab icon to select an entry in a drop-down.
So, basically they have completely reversed the usage of this fundamental action.
I'm sure I'll get used to it, but right now it feels broken.
Other than that, it seems solid as I expected and the UI looks a little nicer with new icons etc.
Good job - so far!
